Job summary

MaintainX, a leading mobile-first work execution platform now part of Autodesk, is seeking a Backend Engineer to strengthen our internal developer platform and scalable backend services. You will design, build, and maintain backend foundations while integrating AI-native workflows and raising engineering standards to support dozens of internal teams.

You will consolidate platform primitives, collaborate with product teams, and help deliver GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure

Qualifications

• 5+ years of distributed systems experience.
• Expert in Node.js, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Proficient designing, maintaining, and evolving GraphQL APIs at scale.
• Strong AI mindset.
• Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• A product mindset: ability to build a platform with and for internal customers.
• An expert level of English, both spoken and written, is required.

The team and the mission

You'd be joining our Backend team within the Platform Engineering division. We're a group with an unusual mandate inside MaintainX: we treat our internal developer platform as a real product, with internal customers (150+ developers), adoption metrics, and a roadmap shaped by what product teams actually need. We are not an ops team.

The platform we're building today exists to answer one question: how do we keep MaintainX engineers shipping fast as the org grows from where we are now to 2-3x the size?

Today, spinning up a new backend service, getting it to production, and operating it involves too many manual steps, too much tribal knowledge, and too many decisions each team makes in isolation. We want golden paths that make the right thing the easy thing.

What You’ll Do

About You

• 5+ years of distributed systems experience
• Expert in Node.js, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Proficient designing, maintaining, and evolving GraphQL APIs at scale.
• Strong AI mindset
• Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• A product mindset: ability to build a platform with and for internal customers.
• An expert level of English, both spoken and written, is required, as the individual will need to lead platform engineering managers across multiple teams, present technical priorities to executive stakeholders, and align with engineering leaders outside Québec on a daily basis.
