We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Automotive Continuity team within the Platform Services organization for a major music streaming company. The team builds high throughput, highly available microservices on our API platform that are critical to the user experience, powering clients including automotive systems, streaming apps, and connected devices, reaching millions of users.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Join the backend/API team to manage, maintain, and debug APIs and legacy microservices built in Scala, Java, and Spring Boot.
2. Support a maintenance squad responsible for bug fixes, investigating production issues, and ensuring system reliability.
3. Work within monolithic and distributed systems emphasizing RESTful API performance, reliability, and scalability.
4. Take ownership of tickets and services independently, demonstrating a proactive approach and problem-solving skills.
5. Communicate effectively in remote settings through video meetings, asynchronous discussions, and ticket threads.
6. Participate in on-call rotations and code maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
2. Minimum of five years of professional experience.
3. Expertise in modern programming languages, preferably Scala and Java.
4. Familiarity with functional programming paradigms and frameworks like Spring Boot.
5. Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs in enterprise environments.
6. Understanding of the software development lifecycle, source control, CI/CD, and testing approaches.
7. Experience supporting high-throughput, distributed systems in production.
8. Proficiency with scalable microservices in AWS, including compute, storage, serverless, containers, and databases.
9. Experience with asynchronous programming and containerization tools like Docker.
10. Pragmatic mindset for balancing engineering trade-offs and business needs.
11. Strong ownership, initiative, and accountability skills.
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
13. Legal right to work in the U.S.

Salary Range:

$127,500 — $161,400 USD, influenced by experience, skills, and education. This range pertains to base salary only, excluding bonuses, equity, or benefits.
