Position Summary:

The Senior Software Developer & Business Automation Architect serves as UNC’s senior technical authority for process automation within Information Management and Technology. This position designs and architects automated solutions that streamline recurring business processes across units and serves as the sole senior developer responsible for highly complex automations supporting federal and state financial aid processes. The position also provides senior-level software development expertise to the Business Intelligence unit, delivering accurate and timely operational reports based on institutional data. This advanced technical expertise supports functional users who rely on institutional data to perform their responsibilities and provides stakeholders with reliable information to make informed, data-driven decisions.

1. Software Business Automation Architect — Process Automation (40%)
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain automated solutions that streamline recurring business processes.
  • Serve as the sole senior developer responsible for complex automations supporting federal and state Financial Aid business processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and development support to IM&T staff and functional users in the design and implementation of business process automations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues affecting existing automated processes to ensure reliability and continuity of operations.
Senior Developer — Operational Reporting Ecosystem (35%)
  • Serve as a senior developer for the WebFOCUS reporting platform, including troubleshooting system outages, designing and implementing technical solutions, and serving as a technical liaison with WebFOCUS cloud engineering and support teams.
  • Support and maintain UNC’s back-end WebFOCUS environment, including the architecture, design, development, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of UNC’s operational reporting infrastructure.
  • Develop and support operational reporting solutions that enable functional areas to access accurate, reliable, and timely institutional data for operational and decision-making needs.
Senior Developer — Complex ERP Data Integrations (20%)
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex data feeds, extracts, and integrations supporting UNC’s core Banner SaaS ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain specialized data integrations supporting Financial Aid systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex integration and data-processing issues to maintain the accuracy, reliability, and continuity of critical institutional data exchanges.
Banner SaaS ISE Administration (5%)
  • Maintain primary technical ownership and administration of the Banner SaaS workflow scheduling tool ISE.
  • Design, configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot scheduled processes that support critical systems and business operations.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a computer or data related field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar or relevant role.

A minimum of three years’ worth of experience in a technical data and/or technical role that demonstrates that they have high level skills in problem-solving and programming.

High level problem-solving and programming/computer skills. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid.
