The Environmental Health and Safety Professional provides compliance andsupport to academic, research, athletics, students, and residential programsfor the university campus and related satellite locations.
(EHS Department Mission: It isthe mission of the Environmental Health & Safety Department to supportuniversity functions by promoting a safe and healthy campus environment forstudents, faculty, staff, and visitors, as well as to provide professionalguidance and direction toward compliance with University, Federal, State, andlocal rules and regulations.)
Requires a bachelor’s degree in fire administration, occupational health, occupationalsafety, environmental health, public health, or a direct related field from an accredited institution. (Experience may substitute for directly related degree on a 2-year experience for 1-year of education ratio – in addition to the minimum required work experience listed below).
Preferred Education: Graduate degree in fireadministration, environmental health, occupational safety, risk management, oremergency management.
Requires a minimum of 3 year directly-related work experience in the EHS programs oractivities (preferably in academic or governmental environments) – includingoversight of fire and safety compliance and experience in one or more of thefollowing disciplines:
This position will interact with students,faculty and staff and must display strong verbal communications skill and an amiable personality that are essential to success.
A criminal background check will be conductedfor the successful candidate. The position will be provided with access to mostareas of the university campus during and after hours. Based on the nature ofthe work and responsibilities for this position, the employee must be reliableand should not present a credible criminal or safety risk.
