Job summary

NS2 Mission is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Reston, VA team, supporting cloud-based data integration and information sharing for Intelligence Community customers. You will design, implement, and maintain cloud-enabled solutions in AWS, bridging mission requirements with technical execution.

This role requires strong AWS expertise, leadership, and the ability to travel for field engagements as needed. Position clearance requires TS/SCI with FSP; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, cloud engineering, or related programs.
• Experience designing and supporting AWS cloud environments (EC2, S3, VPC).
• Experience leading technical work with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and sustainment of cloud-based systems for secure data integration and sharing.
• Architect and maintain AWS environments (EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda).
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and develop scalable solutions.
• Support ETL processes for bulk and streaming data workflows.
• Configure and maintain infrastructure supporting mission operations.
• Act as technical lead during customer engagements and provide guidance on design choices.
• Create and maintain technical docs, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Communicate project status to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Research new technologies to improve performance and security.
• Support field deployments and occasional travel as needed.

Join NS2 Mission and help deliver secure, mission-critical technology solutions that enable collaboration across complex operational environments. Mission is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team in the Reston, VA area, supporting cloud-based data integration, information sharing, and systems engineering efforts for Intelligence Community customers.

In this role, you'll serve as a senior technical contributor, working directly with mission stakeholders, partner organizations, and engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain cloud-enabled solutions that facilitate secure data exchange. You'll help bridge mission requirements with technical execution, providing expertise in AWS, systems integration, automation, and technical planning while supporting high-impact initiatives across dynamic and often challenging operational environments.

Position Clearance Requirement:
TS/SCI with FSP

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and sustainment of cloud-based systems that support secure data integration and information sharing.
• Architect and maintain AWS environments utilizing services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, and related cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with mission stakeholders, external partners, and engineering teams to gather requirements and develop scalable technical solutions.
• Support and optimize ETL processes for both bulk and streaming data workflows.
• Configure and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure supporting mission operations.
• Serve as a technical lead during customer engagements, providing guidance on system design, integration approaches, and implementation strategies.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and implementation plans.
• Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide recommendations to support program objectives.
• Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance system performance, security, and operational effectiveness.
• Support field deployments and customer engagements, including occasional travel to support mission requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 8+ years of experience supporting software engineering, systems integration, cloud engineering, or related technical programs.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS cloud environments, including services such as EC2, S3, VPC, and related technologies.
• Experience supporting ETL processes and data integration workflows involving bulk and streaming data.
• Experience serving as a technical lead or primary technical interface with customers, stakeholders, or external partners.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting Federal Government, Department of Defense, or Intelligence Community customers.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%, as mission needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows server administration and support.
• Experience implementing security best practices within cloud and on-premises environments.
• Knowledge of cloud networking technologies, VPN solutions, and secure data exchange architectures.
• Familiarity with common database technologies and data management concepts.
• Experience delivering technical solutions in operational or field environments.
• Strong customer-facing experience supporting mission stakeholders and partner organizations.
