Job summary

Andrews Cooper Technology Inc is seeking a Senior Software Controls Engineer to design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems. You will integrate robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 7+ years in software controls, PLC/HMI expertise, and travel to client sites. Strong debugging, documentation, and leadership skills are essential for this full-time position

Qualifications

• B.S. in Software or Electrical Engineering or related field. MSEE is a plus.
• 7+ years of professional hands-on experience in Software Controls Engineering.
• Up to 20% of travel may be required; travel access to client sites.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems.
• Integrate automation components including robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices.
• Troubleshoot and support machine startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.
• Develop technical documentation including control specifications and software documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver complete automation solutions.
• Lead controls engineering efforts on complex projects.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction.
• Support proposal development, project planning, and customer technical discussions.
