Job summary

NuAxis Innovations seeks a Software Architect to serve as the principal technical authority for a federal portal platform. You will define end-to-end target architecture including containerized Drupal on Kubernetes, Kafka-driven integrations, REST-first APIs, cloud data and secrets management, and a secure DevSecOps pipeline.

Responsibilities include owning architecture across all views, designing enterprise observability, and mentoring leads.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years as a lead architect on enterprise web platforms.
• 5+ years hands-on Drupal development including architecture, theming, performance and security.
• Proven Kafka architecture experience with event modeling and scalable design.
• Deep AWS experience: EKS/Kubernetes, Aurora, S3, EFS, Secrets Manager, IAM.
• DevSecOps ownership: CI/CD, IaC, automated security testing.
• Experience with BPM/case management and identity providers.
• WCAG 2.1 AA/Section 508 compliance accountability at platform level.
• Agile/SAFe architectural leadership and governance.
• Experience with AI-enabled capabilities and enterprise container platforms.
• CI/CD quality gates with automated tests and security scanning.

Responsibilities

• Own the solution architecture across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security.
• Design event-driven integrations using Kafka with robust error handling.
• Define API-first strategy including versioning, auth, logging, and monitoring.
• Architect containerized runtimes on Kubernetes/EKS with Aurora, S3, EFS, and vaults.
• Establish centralized configuration management and secret handling.
• Drive DevSecOps pipeline, automated testing, and controlled promotion to prod.
• Develop enterprise observability with logs, tracing, metrics, and dashboards.
• Create reusable modules and form framework for future initiatives.
• Lead ATO/security activities and 508/compliance evidence for architecture.
