Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.
Responsibilities:
- Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
- Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
- Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
- Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Automates manual release activities
- Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development:
- Lead the development of software solutions for network management and network automation.
- Ensure high quality well written, clean, efficient, and well-documented code within team.
- Assist team with debug and troubleshooting of software issues.
- Develop microservices, APIs, IaC service templates that define the services that we provide to our customers.
- Systems Administration:
- Manage and maintain Linux servers and systems.
- Lead team regards routine system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure system security and compliance in line with BOA best practices.
- Effectively use Jira and Confluence to manage and document work.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Automate repetitive tasks and workflows using Python and shell scripts within virtual environment.
- Develop and maintain NetDevOps CI/CD pipelines for deployment automation using a GitOps model.
- Deploy code to our development, QA, Staging and Production servers using our continuous integration and deployment pipeline platform.
- Test new services are functioning as expected using our testing framework, and add new test cases to the test suite to continuously improve our quality assurance bar.
- Develop and implement network automation strategies for network configuration, monitoring, and management.
- Design and maintain scripts and tools to automate network tasks and workflows.
- Implement and manage network orchestration tools to streamline operations in conjunction with BOA foundational automation team.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with NetDevOps engineers to streamline operation and process.
- Participate where required in on team on call rotation to support application users.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand network requirements and translate them into technical solutions that can be explained to management and team.
- Participate in software and network architectural discussions and decision-making processes related to network and automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, NetDevOps engineers, and software developers and network deployment engineers.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior Network Developer or in a similar senior-level network engineering role (7+ years).
- Extensive experience with network automation tools and practices.
- Strong background in designing and implementing enterprise-level solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in network protocols, services, and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, VRF’s).
- Very strong proficiency in Python programming and Linux OS. (RHEL, CentOS, etc.).
- Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Itential, NetBox (Nautobot)).
- Familiarity with software-defined controller based networking (SDN) (Arista CVP, Cisco ACI) as well as IaC models.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible and Terraform).
