Job summary

Bombas is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to own the construction and fit of our sock and hosiery assortment from concept through production. This hands-on, detail-oriented role focuses on knitting construction, yarn behavior, fit across sizes, and scalable production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of technical design experience, with deep expertise in socks, hosiery, or knit construction.
• Strong knowledge of knitting machinery, yarn types, and construction methods specific to socks/hosiery.
• Experience leading technical design and development processes across concept to production.
• Ability to mentor junior designers and collaborate with Design, Product Development, and overseas manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

• Own technical specs and construction details for socks and hosiery from concept through bulk production.
• Build and maintain detailed tech packs with construction callouts, knit specs, yarn compositions, and grading rules.
• Lead fit sessions and fit testing across full size ranges, evaluating comfort, compression, and durability.
• Maintain the seasonal fit tracker/change log and ensure accuracy across samples.
• Review proto garments against specs and communicate changes to vendors clearly and promptly.
• Own fit and construction approvals in Buy Ready and Quality Reference Sample processes.
• Manage wear test planning, evaluation, and feedback translation into spec changes.
• Collaborate with Product Development and Design on the Product Risk Assessment process.
• Support COO expansion efforts to ensure product consistency across factories.
• Travel to factories as needed for development and production issue resolution.
