Job summary

Union County is seeking a Senior Social Worker to perform advanced casework, including protective and investigative duties for children at risk of neglect or abuse. The role involves crisis response, treatment, and coordination with schools and families.

The position requires a Master’s in Social Work (or equivalent), licensure as a social worker, and substantial experience in child welfare. Duties include home visits, court testimony, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master's degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or four-year degree in a human services field with three years of related experience.
• One year of work experience can be credited for completion of NC Child-Welfare Education collaborative Pre-service training or licensure as a Clinical Social Worker.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to maintain a safe driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for at risk children and families.
• Conduct home visits at least once a month for each foster child.
• Attend school meetings to advocate for the educational needs of the children served.
• Maintain case data and documentation through various computer programs.
• Provide expert testimony in court hearings as to the progress of the case.
