Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Senior Social Worker within the Behavioral Health service at Truman VA.

The position requires a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and active state licensure to practice independently. The incumbent will conduct biopsychosocial assessments, provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy, and develop measurable treatment plans while coordinating with BHIP teams and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Must be licensed or certified to independently practice at the master’s level.
• Two years of post-advanced practice experience required; one year at GS-11 level.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for Veterans and families.
• Provide individual psychotherapy with an emphasis on evidence-based methods.
• Develop and modify treatment plans based on assessments and outcomes.
• Monitor high-risk factors and safety planning for Veterans in crisis.
• Coordinate referrals to internal and external mental health resources.
• Lead and collaborate with BHIP teams across CBOCs and main facility.
