• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

How does it get done?

The Senior Social Services Coordinator is responsible for:

• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance Employment First principles, providing education and technical assistance on community integration strategies, and promoting successful school-to-work transitions for eligible individuals;
• Serving as the regional subject matter expert on community inclusion and employment, providing guidance on Employment First principles, informed choice, equitable access to community opportunities, the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Non-Residential Settings Rule, transportation, and competitive integrated employment;
• Promoting community inclusion and employment initiatives through outreach and collaboration with regional school districts, community organizations, employers, job fairs, and other community events;
• Providing technical assistance and consultation to interdisciplinary teams, individuals receiving services, families, providers, school personnel, vocational partners, and other stakeholders regarding community inclusion, employment services, and School-to-Work Transition initiatives within DDSD programs;
• Responding promptly to questions and concerns related to regional service delivery, applicable regulations, program requirements, and service standards, ensuring consistent interpretation and implementation of DDSD policies;
• Supporting person-centered planning by identifying and promoting inclusive community experiences and employment opportunities that align with each individual's preferences, strengths, and goals;
• Collaborating with internal and external partners to identify and address barriers to community participation and employment, promoting equitable access to services and supports;
• Providing education, training, and outreach to increase awareness of community inclusion, competitive integrated employment, and available DDSD resources;
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with schools, providers, employers, workforce development agencies, and community organizations to expand opportunities for individuals receiving services.

Who are the customers?

• This position provides support to individuals with an intellectual/developmental disability who are on the Developmental Disability or Mi Via waiver, guardians, and providers.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has:

• Two (2) years of any combination of experience working with communities, working on health or social service-related matters, social work, case management, behavioral health, or health care, preferably with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and one (1) year of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment.

Travel may be required with some occasional overnight stays.

Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
