Job summary

POLITICO is seeking a senior editor and producer to play a key role in our North American social media team, focused on off-platform growth and expanding reach across formats and platforms. The Supervising Editor will manage a small DC-based team of social producers working with text, video, and images.

The role emphasizes growing social audiences, partnering with newsroom leaders, and applying social best practices to scale impact while maintaining journalistic independence.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in social media, newsroom experience is required.
• Experience identifying, analyzing, and using data to test theories and measure success with iteration.

Responsibilities

• Manage our social accounts, social team and schedule (holidays, weekends etc.).
• Develop best practices for each platform to drive audiences back to our site and keep them engaged.
• Create social strategies and playbooks for breaking news and policy coverage.
• Train newsroom leaders, reporters and producers on social best practices and be the lead voice on new innovations.
• Work with product & tech teams to identify and implement social workflow improvements.
• Share insights with data and audience teams.
• Participate in daily coverage planning and provide audience insights.
• Collaborate cross-functional teams to analyze audience data and trends.
