Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior SOC Engineer in Unit 42 to drive creation and optimization of custom detection rules and automated playbooks across a global client base.

You will act as a trusted advisor, maximizing client security posture using Cortex XSIAM and Unit 42 expertise in detection lifecycles and threat intelligence. This is a senior, analytical role demanding strong Python and consultative skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a Senior SOC, Detection Engineering, or Security Architecture role.
• Experience with SIEMs, firewalls, EDR, sandboxes, and SOAR platforms.
• Proven lifecycle experience from rule testing to continuous tuning.
• Ability to review and optimize detection logic and provide feedback.
• Proactive automation experience with Cortex XSOAR or similar.

• Own the full lifecycle of custom detections and response automations.
• Refine correlation rules for performance and accuracy.
• Translate threat intel into robust detection logic.
• Design automated playbooks to address emerging security challenges.
