The role balances people leadership with active technical contribution, including coding in Python and shaping playbooks and content packs. You will collaborate with Cortex Engineering and Unit 42 to elevate detection, improve automation, and ensure stellar operational execution.

Qualifications

• 3+ years directly managing security engineering or SOC teams in a large setting.
• 5+ years in Detection Engineering, SIEM, SOAR, and EDR/XDR with automation focus.
• Solid coding in Python and experience with modern engineering standards in a SOC.
• Deep threat knowledge including APT lifecycles and automated workflows.
• Proven ability to drive engineering execution against SLAs and quality metrics.
• Strong communication bridging technical concepts with executives and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing SOC/Detection team, driving development and retention.
• Remain hands-on in engineering, evaluating architectures and coding in Python.
• Lead content and playbook roadmap, expanding integrations and automation.
• Own end-to-end detection workflows and ensure KPI targets (SLA, quality, speed).
• Collaborate with Unit 42 and Cortex Engineering for production-ready enhancements.
• Enforce development standards and tuning for optimal operations.
• Act as escalation point for high-priority client engagements and reviews.
