Job summary

Verida is seeking a hands-on Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to lead administration, security, reliability, and cost optimization of a banking-client Snowflake platform in Cincinnati. You will work with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and business teams to keep the platform secure, scalable, and efficient for critical workloads.

The ideal candidate brings deep Snowflake administration experience, strong SQL and performance-tuning skills, and the ability to independently troubleshoot

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Snowflake administration in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture: warehouses, micro-partitions, caching, and query execution.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience diagnosing query performance issues.
• Practical experience implementing Snowflake RBAC, role hierarchies, grants, and secure access patterns.
• Experience with warehouse sizing, workload management, cost monitoring, and compute optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting production incidents and improving platform reliability.
• Solid understanding of database administration, data governance, and enterprise security practices.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and produce clear technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day Snowflake administration and user/role management.
• Analyze and optimize query performance, warehouse utilization, and compute costs.
• Implement and maintain RBAC and data protection controls.
• Establish platform standards for warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, and cost management.
• Monitor platform health, investigate incidents, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Manage database objects and platform hygiene (schemas, tables, retention, cleanup).
• Support data integration with AWS services (S3, IAM) and ingestion tools.
• Automate tasks using SQL, Python, scripting, and APIs.
• Develop dashboards and documentation for monitoring, incidents, and cost reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering on platform architecture and upgrades.
