Job summary

Veriday Inc. seeks a hands-on Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to lead administration, security, reliability, performance, and cost optimization of a banking client’s enterprise Snowflake platform. Hybrid Cincinnati, OH, 3 days on-site, 6-month contract (W2).

You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and business teams to keep the platform secure, scalable, and efficient for critical workloads, driving improvements and ensuring best practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Snowflake production administration and support.
• Strong Snowflake architecture knowledge (virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, caching).
• Advanced SQL with performance diagnostics and tuning.
• Experience implementing RBAC, grants, and secure access patterns.
• Experience with warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, and cost controls.
• Experience troubleshooting production incidents and improving reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day Snowflake administration, including user/role management and warehouse configuration.
• Analyze and optimize query performance, warehouse utilization, concurrency, and costs.
• Implement and maintain RBAC, access policies, and data protection controls.
• Establish platform standards for sizing, auto-suspend/resume, monitors, and cost reporting.
• Monitor health, investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and prevent recurrences.
• Manage database objects and platform hygiene (schemas, tables, views, retention).
• Support data integration with AWS services (S3, IAM) and related pipelines.
• Automate tasks using SQL, Python, scripting, and APIs.
• Develop operational dashboards and documentation for monitoring and cost reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering on platform architecture and upgrades.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to lead the administration, security, reliability, performance, and cost optimization of a banking client's enterprise Snowflake platform. You will work with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and business teams to keep the platform secure, scalable, and efficient for critical enterprise workloads. The ideal candidate brings deep, practical Snowflake administration experience, strong SQL and performance-tuning skills, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex production issues and drive platform improvements.

Engagement: Contract assignment with a reputed banking client Location: Cincinnati, OH (hybrid, 3 days per week on-site) Duration: 6 months with potential extension Employment Type: W2 only

Key Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day Snowflake administration, including user and role management, warehouse configuration, resource monitoring, and operational support.
• Analyze and optimize query performance, warehouse utilization, concurrency, and compute costs using Snowflake monitoring and account usage capabilities.
• Implement and maintain RBAC, least-privilege access, service accounts, authentication integrations, and data protection controls.
• Establish platform standards for warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, resource monitors, workload isolation, and cost management.
• Monitor platform health, investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
• Manage database objects and platform hygiene, including schemas, tables, views, retention settings, and cleanup of obsolete resources.
• Support data integration and connectivity with AWS services (S3, IAM) and related ingestion and processing tools.
• Automate administrative and operational tasks using SQL, Python, scripting, and APIs.
• Develop operational dashboards and documentation for monitoring, incident response, access reviews, and cost reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on platform architecture, upgrades, new capabilities, and enterprise data initiatives.

Required Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting Snowflake in a production enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, caching, and query execution.
• Advanced SQL skills with proven experience diagnosing and resolving query performance issues.
• Practical experience implementing Snowflake RBAC, role hierarchies, grants, access policies, and secure access patterns.
• Experience with warehouse sizing, workload management, cost monitoring, and compute optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting production incidents and improving platform reliability.
• Solid understanding of database administration, data governance, and enterprise security practices.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and produce clear technical documentation.

• Experience integrating Snowflake with AWS S3, IAM, Glue, and enterprise data pipelines
• Python or shell scripting for automation; Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
• Snowflake security features: masking policies, row access policies, network policies, authentication integrations
• Experience with multi-cluster warehouses, replication, failover, and business continuity
• SnowPro Core or Advanced certification
• Experience in financial services or another regulated enterprise environment
