Job summary

Empower is seeking a Sr. Cloud Database Administrator to manage the Snowflake platform on AWS. You will design, secure, optimize, and maintain enterprise Snowflake environments, partnering with Data Engineering, Analytics, DevOps, and Security teams.

You will implement RBAC, masking, data governance, and automation, while driving platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience
• 3+ years administering enterprise Snowflake environments
• Experience with Snowflake security (RBAC, masking, row access)
• Experience with Snowflake performance tuning and cost optimization
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong SQL skills and scripting (Python/Shell)
• Experience with AWS cloud environments
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and modern cloud data platforms
• Experience with source control and Snowflake deployments

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Snowflake platform (databases, schemas, warehouses, roles)
• Design scalable Snowflake architectures for analytics and AI/ML workloads
• Implement RBAC, masking policies, and data governance standards
• Optimize warehouses, storage, and query performance; manage costs
• Design and implement secure data sharing, external stages, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks
• Develop backup, disaster recovery, and cross-region replication
• Automate deployments using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain version-controlled SQL objects and security objects
• Monitor platform health and security events
• Collaborate with Data Eng teams on dbt, Airflow, ELT pipelines
• Develop Python/SQL automation for provisioning and ops
• Mentor team members on Snowflake standards
• Stay current with Snowflake features and best practices
• Document architecture and runbooks
