Job summary

Ducommun Inc. in Tulsa, OK is seeking an experienced Advanced SMT Machine Operator to join our electronics manufacturing team. This is not an entry-level role and requires hands-on experience with SMT equipment in a high-mix, fast-paced environment.

You will set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain SMT lines, verify programs and tooling, perform first article inspections, and work with Engineering and Quality to drive continuous improvement and IPC‑610 compliant assemblies.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of SMT manufacturing experience.
• Experience setting up and changing SMT machines.
• Experience troubleshooting SMT issues independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete setup, changeover, and operation of SMT production equipment.
• Load and verify machine programs, feeders, components, tooling, and production documentation.
• Set up and operate: Pick‑and‑place equipment; Solder paste printers; Reflow ovens; Board handling equipment; AOI systems.
• Conduct first article inspections and verify production readiness prior to release.
• Diagnose and correct placement, feeder, printer, and reflow issues.
• Identify root causes of defects including misalignment, tombstoning, bridging, insufficient solder, polarity errors, and missing components.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend process improvements.
• Verify assemblies meet IPC-A-610 quality standards.
• Conduct visual inspections of SMT assemblies.
• Recognize defect trends and take corrective action before quality issues impact production.
• Ensure accurate completion of production and quality documentation.
