Job summary

Material Security, Inc. is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of infrastructure across multiple GCP projects, Kubernetes clusters, and Postgres databases.

This software engineering role focuses on building systems and culture to remove on-call toil and provide engineers with clear health signals. You will collaborate with every product team and leadership to decide where components belong, define SLOs with product teams, and lead cross-team reliability efforts.

Qualifications

Job description

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Material Security, you'll own the reliability of the infrastructure every product team builds on, including GCP, Kubernetes, and Postgres across hundreds of GCP projects. This is a software engineering role, where you’ll be building systems and the culture that removes manual on-call work, fixes the underlying causes of alerts, and gives engineers a clear view of system health. You'll work with every team and work with leadership to decide where things go.

What We’re Looking For

• Technical Ability: Solid software engineering fundamentals and raw coding ability. Production code is your default way of solving a problem.
• Infrastructure Depth: Hands-on experience running GCP (or a comparable cloud) and Kubernetes at production scale, including autoscaling and capacity management.
• Automation First: You have built tools and automation that other engineers depended on, not just runbooks that describe a manual fix.
• Ownership: Comfortable driving ambiguous, cross-team reliability work on your own, from diagnosis to a shipped fix.

Compensation at Material Security is determined by a range of factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $213,000-$229,000.
