Job summary

Restaurant Technology & Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their Reliability Engineering team in Louisville, KY. The role focuses on building reliable restaurant technology platforms and edge infrastructure with a strong emphasis on cloud-native practices.

You will own reliability metrics, drive incident response improvements, and work across AWS and edge Kubernetes deployments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in IT infrastructure, with 3+ years on site reliability engineering, cloud architecture, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate, Lambda, IAM, RDS, and S3.
• Working experience with Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes-based edge systems.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability for restaurant technology systems by defining reliability criteria, setting SLOs/SLIs, and using error budgets to balance reliability with delivery speed.
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability to provide meaningful signals for proactive issue detection.
• Lead blameless post-incident reviews and drive root cause analysis with permanent corrective actions across the stack.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, highly available AWS-based infrastructure, with knowledge of Azure and edge systems deployed in restaurant environments.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD), develop internal automation and tooling, and reduce MTTD/MTTR through runbooks and automation.

Our client, Restaurant Technology & Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their team. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be part of the Reliability Engineering organization supporting restaurant technology platforms and edge infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring a reliability-first mindset, strong cloud and Kubernetes fundamentals, and the drive to turn incidents into permanent improvements through automation and measurable outcomes.

What's the Job?

• Own reliability for restaurant technology systems by defining what “reliable” means, setting Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and using error budgets to balance reliability with delivery speed.
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability that produce meaningful signal-so so teams can detect issues early and respond with confidence.
• Lead blameless post-incident reviews, drive root cause analysis, and ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented across the stack.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, highly available infrastructure primarily on AWS, with working knowledge of Azure, including Kubernetes-based edge systems deployed in restaurant environments.
• Improve operational excellence by optimizing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD), creating internal automation and tooling, and reducing mean time to detection (MTTD) and mean time to resolution (MTTR) through runbooks and automation.

What's Needed?

• 6+ years in IT infrastructure, with 3+ years focused on site reliability engineering, cloud architecture, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate, Lambda, IAM, RDS, and S3.
• Working experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration, including edge or distributed deployments.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and GitLab CI/CD pipeline design, plus automation/scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go, or equivalent).
