Your Impact:
  • Construct and build projects per plan and on schedule, utilizing a volunteer labor force and sub-contractors as directed by management team. May require periods of hands‑on construction work across various activities as directed.
  • Work with Construction Director and/or Director of Operations and Project Manager(s) to maintain construction schedule to ensure building goals of the affiliate are met.
  • May have direct reports consisting of Site Manager(s) and/or Site Coordinator(s) as well as AmeriCorps on project site. Responsible for coordinating and delegating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, weather, supply, delivery, and volunteers.
  • Ensure site has adequate resources to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Ensure proper management and accountability of jobsite materials, equipment, inventory and tools.
  • Maintain site safety through safe practices and documentation ensuring that all volunteers, partner families, and staff comply with worksite safety measures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, job briefings, and project overviews.
  • Update project management software daily.
  • Set up and coordinate inspections with appropriate agencies.
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Construction Director and/or Director of Operations, such as; quality control, AmeriCorps interviews, attending Safety Committee.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • Strong understanding of construction management processes and ability to read and understand blueprints. Teach and perform a variety of construction activities according to local codes and project plans.
  • Able to work with diverse team of project managers, directors, and other project stakeholders. Flexible in challenging environment with competing priorities.
  • Must be able to train, motivate, and drive activities utilizing volunteers, skilled and non-skilled workers, staff, and AmeriCorps. Must have a high skill level, ability, and enjoy interacting with others in a flexible environment.
  • Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to AmeriCorps, volunteers, subcontractors. Strong communicator able to provide clear and concise direction to project teams regarding needed construction activity.
  • Proven ability to solve problems, troubleshoot unforeseen issues, and find solutions to complex site issues.
  • 5 years or more of construction experience or commensurate experience.
  • Understand construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
  • Dependable transportation.
  • An absolute commitment to job safety.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, possess strong problem-solving skills, and able to identify quality workmanship.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to communicate with volunteers, partner families, and potential donors who visit the build site as well as promote Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
  • Field management skills and construction experience is required to be able to oversee the construction process from the planning process to home completion.
  • Ability to drive a forklift and larger truck (CDL not required) as well as operate heavy equipment is desirable.
  • This position reports to work as scheduled, in shifts, 40 hours per week from Tuesday - Saturday.
