Job summary

Forterra seeks a Simulation Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain simulation systems for autonomous off-road and on-road applications in defense and commercial sectors. Expertise in Unreal, C++, and scripting (Lua or Python) is required.

You will contribute to feature-rich simulation capabilities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive the software lifecycle from conception to delivery with thorough testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of real-time simulation software experience.
• Expertise in C++ and Lua or Python.
• Familiarity with automated testing platforms and Linux.
• Strong understanding of 3D math and geometry.
• Experience with Unreal engine.
• Experience with GitLab workflows and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop simulation software features, scenarios, and integrations.
• Interface with software teams to improve simulation usage.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and team meetings.
• Collaborate with systems, safety, and test teams to meet needs.
• Develop software from feature requests to delivery with testing.
• Support troubleshooting, integration, and automated tests.
• Evaluate new simulation platforms and products with input.
• Work in a distributed team to achieve sprint goals.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to identify release features.
