Job summary

General Motors Corporation is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Galileo Simulation Platform in a hybrid Sunnyvale setting. You will define the technical vision, architect scalable simulation pipelines, and lead cross-functional efforts to improve tooling, data processing, and release workflows.

The role demands 7+ years of production software experience, strong skills in distributed systems and Python, and familiarity with cloud platforms, observability, and A/B validation strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience building and operating production software systems, platforms, or infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed systems, service-oriented or microservice architectures, and data-intensive apps.
• Production programming in Python and another language (Go/C++/Java/TS).
• Experience with cloud platforms and CI/CD, observability, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical vision and multi-year roadmap for Galileo and simulation-platform capabilities.
• Design and implement scalable systems for millions of simulation miles and large test-result volumes.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives integrating simulation, data, and tooling into engineering workflows.
• Build platform capabilities for test creation, execution, storage, data processing, and visualization.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence through reviews and testing.
