LiquidPiston in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Senior Engine Sealing Engineer to lead design and validation of rotary engine sealing systems. You will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize seal performance under demanding conditions.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in ICE power components, high-temperature materials, and hands-on testing, with strong analytical and collaborative skills in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in design, development, and validation of ICE power cylinder ring packs and cylinder bores.
• Proficiency with advanced engineering simulation tools (FEA/CFD and Ring Dynamics software).
• Experience with high-temperature materials and surface treatments for wear resistance.

Responsibilities

• Lead rotary engine sealing system design and refinement.
• Contribute to journal bearing design and optimization.
• Apply tribology to minimize friction and wear.
• Develop 1D/3D dynamic models to analyze seal motion and leakage.
• Specify materials for high-temperature, high-pressure sliding contact.
• Perform FEA/CFD to assess thermal distortion and structural integrity.
• Design and analyze engine test plans focused on seal performance.
• Troubleshoot sealing-related engine issues from dyno testing.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders.
