Senior Simulation Development Engineer

Join the Audi F1 Project - Shape the Future of Motorsport!

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The new team has three locations: Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany), the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center in the UK, which will be operational this year. Our Power Unit is developed in Neuburg, while Hinwil focuses on chassis development and race operations. We are looking for individuals with an athlete's mindset—those who see limits as challenges to overcome—to bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1. Your mission

1. Develop numerical and optimization methods for our simulation tools, including lap time simulation, DIL simulator, suspension simulation, and telemetry data analysis.
2. Research, develop, and implement state-of-the-art simulation methodologies to optimize vehicle performance and development.
3. Optimize source code for computational efficiency.
4. Lead significant projects and mentor junior engineers.
5. Define and implement automated model correlation and testing routines.
6. Establish processes to ensure software quality.
7. Contribute to vehicle physics model development.
8. Prepare documentation and presentations for software users and technical management.

Your profile

• Master's or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Significant experience in developing simulation models and tools.
• Strong coding skills in C/C++, with knowledge of C#, Python, Matlab, Simulink, and/or Modelica advantageous.
• Expertise in numerical methods and optimization methodologies.
• Experience in developing simulation software and solving computational engineering problems.
• Experience with lap time simulation tools and DIL vehicle models is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong understanding of optimization, numerical analysis, mathematical modeling, and simulation methodologies.
• Knowledge of computational efficiency and accelerated computing.
• Familiarity with nonlinear state estimation, physical mechanics, engineering dynamics, thermal science, and fluid dynamics is beneficial.
• Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, result-driven, and capable of working independently.
• Pragmatic with a scientific approach, stress-tolerant, and able to prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in English; German skills are a plus.
