Job summary

A small engineering firm in Utica is looking for a Signal Processing Engineer to develop algorithms for detecting and processing digital communication signals. Key responsibilities include performing research and design for communication systems, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, and utilizing signal processing techniques. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field, along with experience in DSP and programming languages like Python and MATLAB. This role requires US citizenship and the potential for a Department of Defense security clearance.

• Ability to perform in-depth technical evaluations of emerging communications technologies.
• Experience in receiver design including digital filtering, channel estimation, equalization, demodulation, and decoding.
• US citizenship and eligibility for a Department of Defense security clearance.

• Perform research, design, development, and production of communication equipment and systems.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and install communication equipment using digital signal processing algorithms.
• Incorporate traditional signal processing techniques along with ML and AI techniques.

Wearelookingforsomeonewhocandevelopsignal processing algorithms to detect, decode, and processdigital communication signals.You willparticipatein field tests, signal modeling for operational planning, building, and testing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)systems,suchassoftware – defined radios (SDRs), foruseinprototypesignalcollectionandprocessingsystems.

Position Responsibilities

• Performingresearch,design,developmentandproductionofcommunicationsequipmentandsystems.
• Abletomaintain,troubleshootandinstallthecommunicationsequipmentusingdigitalsignal processing algorithms
• Knowledgeofsatelliteorotherwirelesscommunicationssystems
• IncorporatingtraditionalSignalProcessingaswellasMachineLearning(ML)andArtificialIntelligence (AI) techniques
• Implementingalgorithmsinhardwaresystemsasresearchprogressestowardoperationalimplementation.
• Asrequireddevelopcustomerrelationshipsandotherbusinessdevelopmentresponsibilities

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’sdegreeinmath,electricalengineeringorrelatedfieldandindustryexperience is desired.
• Abilitytoperformin-depthtechnicalevaluationsofemergingcommunicationstechnologies through analysis and identification of advancement capabilities
• ExperiencewithDigitalSignalProcessing(DSP)designormodelingandanalysisofSoftwareDefined Radios (SDRs)
• Familiaritywithsoftwaredefinedradiohardwareandsoftwareinterfaces
• Developsignalprocessingalgorithmstocollect,detect,andprocessdigitalcommunicationsignals
• Experienceinreceiverdesignincludingdigitalfiltering,channelestimation,equalization, demodulation, and decoding.
• Proficiencyinsomeorallofthefollowingprogramminglanguages:MATLAB,Python. Familiarity in C/C++ is a plus.
• Excellentcommunicationskillsneededtoexplaincomplexsignalingsystemswiththe ability to provide technical support for hardware design.
• UScitizenship–musthaveorbeeligiblefora DepartmentofDefensesecurityclearance.
