Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in applied mathematics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or related field; master’s a plus.
• 5+ years in signal and image processing, control systems, digital communications, estimation theory, and sensor development.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork.
• Experience with scientific computing languages (Python, Matlab, R, Julia) and simulations.
• Ability to simulate and/or analyze system performance.
• Project engineering skills (definition, design, development, test and validation).
• US citizenship – must have or be eligible for a DoD security clearance.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 Annually

Black River Systems Company, a small, established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for a Systems Engineer to help us research, design and analyze state-of-the-art sensor systems, such as radar or electro-optical systems. The candidate should have a strong background in applied mathematics or engineering. Candidates should have an interest and experience in signal and image processing, control systems, estimation or tracking, or digital communications. The position is established to work in a team environment to develop technical solutions for our customers in areas such as algorithm development, functional analysis, performance tradeoff studies, prototype development, prototype development, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics, applied physics, electrical engineering or related field, a master’s degree is a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience in signal and image processing, control systems digital communications, estimation theory and sensor development preferred.
• Solid communication, documentation, and collaborative/teamwork skills.
• Experience with scientific computing languages (e.g. Python, Matlab, R, and/or Julia) and other software-based simulation is strongly desired.
• Ability to simulate and/or analyze system performance.
• Project engineering skills (definition, design, development, test and validation) are desired.
• US citizenship – must have or be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance.
