Job summary

Shopify Inc. is seeking a Senior Shopify Developer for Professional Services to architect and deliver native Shopify Plus storefronts, leading end-to-end engagements for high-volume merchants.

You will scope work, design solutions, and own outcomes across themes, checkout, and app surfaces. Expect hands-on coding, complex migrations, and collaboration with Solution Engineering, Customer Success, and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Shopify Plus development experience shipping production work for high-volume or enterprise merchants.
• Deep expertise in Shopify Themes and Liquid, including Online Store 2.0 architecture, content schemas, and theme settings.
• Hands-on experience across Shopify's Plus extensibility surfaces — Checkout UI Extensions, Theme App Extensions, Functions, App Bridge — including migration patterns off legacy Scripts.
• Experience with Plus-specific complexity: expansion stores, Shopify Markets and multi-region setups, B2B, and custom app development.
• Strong GraphQL and REST proficiency across the Admin and Storefront APIs, with webhooks and rate-limit-aware patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship native Shopify Plus storefronts — leading technical discovery, solution design, and hands-on implementation across themes, checkout, and app/extension surfaces
• Own migrations for merchants coming from legacy platforms: assess the existing architecture, define the target state on Plus, and sequence the work so nothing breaks in flight
• Work at Plus scale — expansion stores, multi-market and multi-currency setups, B2B alongside DTC, high-traffic launches, and the operational surfaces Plus merchants actually run on (Flow, custom apps, Launchpad)
• Set the performance bar. Define frontend standards (Core Web Vitals, rendering strategy, asset discipline) and coach merchant and partner teams to hit them
• Make the hard build calls and explain them — Liquid vs. Hydrogen/Oxygen, native vs. app, Checkout Extensibility patterns, and content modeling with metafields and metaobjects
• Scale your impact beyond the engagement by building reusable reference implementations, accelerators, and internal tooling — Theme App Extensions, Checkout UI Extensions, Functions — so the next team starts further ahead
• Work across the org with Solution and Enterprise Architects, Merchant Success, Product, and Engineering to unblock complexity, surface risk early, and feed what you learn back into the product roadmap
• Communicate with range — deep technical detail with engineers, clear recommendations and tradeoffs with executive stakeholders
