Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled sheet metal fabricator to perform fabrication, installation, and layout work for ductwork and HVAC components. You will read drawings, fabricate parts, and assemble custom pieces to precise specifications.

Candidates should have a strong background in commercial/industrial sheet metal, an apprenticeship or equivalent training, and the ability to interpret mechanical diagrams and blueprints to complete installations and modifications safely and

Qualifications

High school education or equivalent and completion of an approved apprentice program or equivalent.
5-7 years of diverse commercial and industrial sheet metal experience.
Ability to interpret all mechanical diagrams and construction blueprints.
Ability to understand and complete all installations/modifications.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies.
Fabricate custom strainers using perforated steel and expanded metal.
Work with Plexiglass, Lexan, and metals including stainless steels and exotic alloys.
Operate sheet metal fabrication machines and hand tools safely.
Cut sheet metal to size and join metals with spot welders.
Follow all safety requirements for assigned tasks.
