Job summary

Ameriprise Financial Inc is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise SharePoint Online and OneDrive services. You will lead engineering efforts, drive automation, and mentor staff within a highly regulated enterprise using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric technologies.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
• 7-10 years engineering and integration experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies, including SharePoint Online and OneDrive.
• Demonstrated expertise with platform utilization, performance and operational health; able to produce and evaluate measurement reporting, quickly identify outliers, and recommend solutions.
• Strong analytical and customer service abilities.
• Ability to communicate and articulate technical information across various organizational levels.
• Strong thought leadership abilities and a highly innovative problem solver.
• High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex operating environments.
• Ability to coach and mentor experienced engineering staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical authority for SharePoint Online and OneDrive, providing engineering guidance for complex platform, solution, security, governance, and operational issues.
• Design, review and implement scalable enterprise solutions using SharePoint Online, OneDrive and related Microsoft 365 capabilities.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, reference designs, configuration standards, operational procedures and technical documentation.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis, developing sustainable corrective actions rather than relying on short‑term fixes.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive administration, reporting, governance and operational processes.
• Evaluate platform risks involving permissions, sharing, lifecycle management, security and governance, working across teams to establish appropriate controls.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and operations staff without requiring formal people‑management responsibility.
• Evaluate new Microsoft capabilities and recommend adoption when they provide meaningful business, security, operational or supportability benefits.
• Work directly with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into secure and supportable solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement across platform reliability, operational efficiency, governance and user experience.
