Job summary

Montgomery & Associates (M&A) is seeking a full-time Project Hydrogeologist to join our California team, based in Oakland or Sacramento. You will lead projects, manage client and regulator interactions, mentor junior staff, and focus on SGMA planning and implementation across Northern California and the Central Valley.

The role requires a graduate degree in hydrology, geology, civil or environmental engineering (or professional registration) and 8+ years of water resources consulting experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in hydrology, geology, civil engineering, or environmental engineering, or professional registration (P.G. or P.E.). Both preferred; at least one required.
• At least 8 years of water resources consulting experience, preferably SGMA-related.
• Strong command of hydrogeologic principles and SGMA regulatory requirements.
• Experience with task and project management; proficient with standard analytical tools; strong writing and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and technically lead multi-disciplinary hydrogeology and groundwater resource tasks with a focus on SGMA planning and implementation.
• Collaborate with groundwater modeling team to develop conceptual and numerical models.
• Design and manage field investigations, well drilling and testing, monitoring programs, and interpret hydrogeologic data.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and work plans; review deliverables and mentor junior staff.
