Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a Serviceability Design Engineer to ensure serviceability and remanufacturability across GM Defense vehicle programs. You will participate in product engineering meetings to address service issues, and adhere to ITAR requirements while supporting both electrical and mechanical components.

The role involves collaboration with Program Management, Product Engineering, and Field support, with hybrid work expectations and up to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in Serviceability Engineering, Field Service, or Product Support, or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience.
• Practical diagnostic experience, technical/field experience.
• Ability to read engineering schematics.
• Familiarity with service information diagnostics and/or authoring.
• Ability to make decisions autonomously, manage workload and elevate when necessary.
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven problem-solving.
• Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Candidate must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
• Eligible to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance after hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification of Service Parts for Development of Service Parts BOM.
• Support development and validation of service special tools and procedures.
• Provide support for emerging and quality issues.
• Provide technical support for various other teams including: Program management, Product Engineering, Parts Release, Remanufacturing, Service Training, Warranty Center, Technical Assistance, Assembly Plants, Field support, Suppliers.
• Work with other department functions and suppliers to implement cost reduction and improvements while supporting all programs.
• Provide technical direction to support personnel as required.
• Communicate information to internal and external customer organizations.
• Stay abreast of new technology and driven practices.
• Perform special assignments as requested.
