Job summary

Air Around the Clock Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking an experienced Residential HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is not an entry-level role. Candidates should troubleshoot complex issues independently, communicate solutions clearly to homeowners, and uphold high workmanship standards with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of residential HVAC service and diagnostic experience.
  • Experience diagnosing inverter, variable-speed, or communicating HVAC equipment preferred.
  • Strong electrical and refrigeration diagnostic skills required.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot residential HVAC systems.
  • EPA certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems including split, inverter, heat pump, and mini-split units.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, condensate, and control issues.
  • Replace components (capacitors, contactors, motors, boards, TXVs) and perform refrigerant leak repairs.
  • Document work accurately using company software.
  • Explain findings and repair options to homeowners and build trust.

Air Around the Clock Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking an experienced Residential HVAC Service Technician who can confidently diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for technicians who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, communicate solutions clearly to homeowners, and consistently deliver high-quality workmanship with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate is a skilled professional who takes pride in solving problems, educating customers, and representing the company with integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair residential air conditioning and heating systems, including split systems, Inverter Systems, heat pumps, package units, mini-splits, and air handlers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, and system inspections.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, condensate, and control issues.
  • Replace components such as capacitors, contactors, motors, compressors, blower assemblies, TXVs, thermostats, and control boards.
  • Perform refrigerant leak detection, repairs, evacuations, and proper charging procedures.
  • Verify equipment performance after repairs and ensure systems operate within manufacturer specifications.
  • Follow EPA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Complete all service documentation accurately using company-provided software.

Customer Responsibilities

  • Explain technical findings in a way homeowners understand.
  • Present repair options honestly and professionally.
  • Recommend replacement options when repairs are no longer cost-effective.
  • Educate customers on indoor air quality products, maintenance memberships, and system efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean work area and respect every customer's home.
  • Build trust through professionalism, communication, and reliability.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and outdoor environments.
  • Climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work in South Florida heat and varying weather conditions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of residential HVAC service and diagnostic experience required
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing inverter, variable-speed, or communicating HVAC equipment strongly preferred
  • Strong electrical and refrigeration diagnostic skills
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot residential HVAC systems
  • EPA certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong customer communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with homeowners
  • Ability to work a Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday schedule based on business needs
