Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects for Federal and Public sector clients. The role requires independent work and team leadership on sediment remediation efforts including riverine, coastal, and port settings.

Candidates should bring knowledge of sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial design, and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; 7 years related experience required.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Federal or Public sector sediment remediation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating sediment remediation technologies and preparing sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings involving multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and/or remedial action construction.
• Providing support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as CDM Smith’s task manager on various components of complicated sediments sites and communicating technical strategy to clients.
• Possessing in-depth expertise in regulatory steps/processes (CERCLA, GLBA) at contaminated sediment sites.
• Leading other staff in preparing/reviewing technical information to ensure rigor and regulatory compliance.
