Tenable is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join a hybrid role bridging Security Response and Decision Science Operations within the Research Special Operations group. You will split time between responding to high-profile events and producing external-facing content, while applying quantitative analysis to guide investment in effort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field or 5+ years of experience.
• 4+ years of programming and scripting experience (Python/SQL).
• Knowledge of security vulnerabilities, CVSS, and classification methods.
• Experience with data analytics tools and Python data-science tooling.
• Familiarity with Shodan and Censys for asset discovery.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Monitor threat landscape and track high-profile events in real time.
• Coordinate end-to-end Security Response processes across teams.
• Create technical content: blogs, advisories, conference material.
• Provide analytical insights to inform product and business decisions.
• Build dashboards and workflows to surface trends across threat data.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with research, PR, marketing, and product.
