Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, responsible for security and safety duties, providing armed, uniformed security across SJH campuses. Duties include threat assessment, immediate response, mitigation of offenses, investigation, reporting, and coordination with law enforcement. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid NY State Armed Security Guard License (including firearms training and NYS pistol permit) OR active NY police officer status at hiring. Police officers must obtain security license and permit within 6 months.
• High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• IAHSS Basic Security Certification within 1 year of hire.
• FEMA IS-100c course within 90 days of hire.
• BLS Certification upon hire or within 3 weeks.

Skills & Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years experience in armed security, healthcare security, or law enforcement (preferred: law enforcement experience).
• Successful psychiatric evaluation prior to hire.
• Knowledge of NY Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
• Understanding of use of force continuum and application in private security.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Exposure to adverse conditions, potential contact with blood and body fluids. Physical demands include frequent close eye work, sitting, walking, lifting (<15 pounds), and other physical activities as described.

Supervision & Career Path:

Supervised by Senior Security Supervisor, Security Manager, Regional Director of Security. Career progression to Senior Security Supervisor.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Maintain equipment safety and operation, including firearms and other security tools.
• Perform security rounds, respond to calls, de-escalate violence, and investigate incidents.
• Complete thorough reports, maintain confidentiality, and manage security systems.

Compensation:

Pay range: $25.00 - $35.70/hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Pay varies by location.
