Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Security Engineer focusing on vulnerability management to join a client’s Vulnerability Management team. The role involves independent work, strong technical communication, and remediation across complex environments.

Location allows remote or hybrid work with EST hours. The contract spans 6+ months with potential extensions and requires deep vulnerability management expertise and hands-on Tenable experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience with a focus on vulnerability management.
• Experience with vulnerability management lifecycle and remediation strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Tenable vulnerability scanning tools (Tenable Security Center).
• Experience evaluating security findings and providing remediation guidance.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to explain security risks to technical and business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to coordinate security initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the full vulnerability management lifecycle from identification to remediation and tracking.
• Administer vulnerability scanning platforms, including Tenable Security Center.
• Analyze findings and assess risk across apps, infrastructure, cloud, and OS.
• Develop remediation recommendations and compensating controls when needed.
• Coordinate remediation with application owners and infrastructure teams.
• Create clear technical documentation and remediation guidance.
• Assist with ingestion and management of findings in platforms like Brinqa.
• Support vulnerability management across Windows, Linux, cloud, and OT environments.
• Ensure activities align with PCI, HIPAA, and SOX requirements.
• Stay current on threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
