Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Security Engineer specializing in vulnerability management. The role focuses on leading vulnerability lifecycle activities, prioritizing risk-based remediation, and coordinating across application, infrastructure, and security teams.

Remote or hybrid with EST hours, 6+ month contract with extension potential. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in cybersecurity with hands-on Tenable experience, Windows and Linux proficiency, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience focused on vulnerability management.
• Deep understanding of vulnerability lifecycle and risk-based remediation.
• Tenable vulnerability scanning experience, including Tenable Security Center.
• Experience evaluating findings and providing remediation guidance.
• Proficient with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to explain risks to technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience coordinating security initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the full vulnerability management lifecycle from identification to remediation.
• Administer vulnerability scanning platforms such as Tenable Security Center.
• Analyze findings and assess risk across apps, infra, cloud, and OS.
• Develop remediation and compensating controls when needed.
• Coordinate remediation with application and infrastructure teams.
• Create technical documentation and remediation guidance.
• Manage findings in platforms like Brinqa.
• Support VM efforts across Windows, Linux, cloud, and OT environments.
• Ensure VM activities align with PCI, HIPAA, and SOX.
• Stay current on threats and industry best practices.
