Job summary

PathAI is seeking a Senior Security Engineer who thinks like a software engineer to embed security into how our engineers design, build, and ship software on AWS/Kubernetes. You will create tools and guardrails that reduce friction while improving security, champion secure coding, and mentor engineers across teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or closely related field.
• 5+ years of full life cycle development and/or application security engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and common vulnerability classes (OWASP Top 10, CWE).
• Experience building tools and automation, ideally in Python.
• Experience integrating security tooling (SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets scanning) into CI/CD.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS) and knowledge of security tooling.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
• Preferred: healthtech regulatory experience and security certifications.

Responsibilities

• Champion secure coding practices across Python and JavaScript codebases through design reviews and threat modeling.
• Design, build internal tools, automation, and guardrails to help engineers ship secure software by default.
• Own and improve security tooling in the SDLC (SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets detection, container/IaC scanning).
• Streamline triage, tracking, and remediation of findings; integrate with GitLab, Jira, and other tooling.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, ML, and IT teams to secure the cloud-native SaaS platform on AWS/Kubernetes.
• Mentor teammates and share secure coding guidance and training.
• Support audits and validation activities with clinical/regulatory teams.
