Job summary

Air is seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer focused on AI security to advance our agentic AI platforms used by U.S. government and industry partners.

You will work at the intersection of applied AI research, offensive security, and production systems engineering, identifying failures, defeating exploits, and enabling durable security architectures. You will design automated evaluations, build secure runtimes and sandboxes, and harden infrastructure across Kubernetes and cloud environments

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software, backend infra, distributed systems, security systems, or AI/ML infra.
• Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated AI red teaming, adversarial ML, offensive security, or security research experience.
• Experience evaluating AI systems beyond basic prompt injections.
• Solid understanding of modern LLMs and agentic systems (model inference, context, tool use, retrieval, multi-step execution).
• Threat modeling complex systems and translating risks into engineering controls.
• Strong Python production software experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of networking, distributed systems, containers, orchestration, scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop AI red teaming, adversarial testing, security evaluation, and robust inference.
• Threat model agentic AI architectures and identify trust boundaries, attack surfaces, and failure modes.
• Design adversarial evaluations targeting prompt injections, tool abuse, privilege escalation, data exfiltration, and memory poisoning.
• Build automated security evaluation and regression frameworks for agents, models, tools, and infra.
• Translate attacks into production mitigations, architectural improvements, and reusable security controls.
• Design secure execution environments for AI agents interacting with tools, data, and external systems.
• Build sandboxing and isolation for untrusted workloads.
• Implement capability boundaries and least-privilege access controls for agent tools and services.
• Develop scalable AI infra and services for secure model inference and agent execution.
• Own and improve production infra across Kubernetes, AWS, networking, storage, and compute.
• Implement security controls around IAM, secrets, network isolation, containers, and service-to-service communication.
• Build scalable APIs and internal platform services to improve productivity, reliability, and security.
• Improve observability with logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, telemetry, and alerts.
