Fastly is an edge cloud platform company seeking a Senior Security Engineer on the Detection Engineering team to build detections and AI-powered automations for incident response, and to lead complex security investigations.

You will develop analytics to identify threats across cloud, container, and edge environments, analyze log sources to determine root causes, and lead threat hunts while contributing to on-call rotations.

As a Senior Security Engineer on the Detection Engineering team, you will build detections to identify malicious activity across Fastly's environment, develop AI-powered automations for incident response, and lead complex security investigations.

What You'll Do

• Develop detections and analytics to identify threats across cloud, container, corporate, and edge environments
• Lead security investigations by analyzing complex log sources and telemetry to determine root cause
• Build AI agents and automations to accelerate detection development, triage, and incident response workflows
• Research, evaluate, implement, and maintain security tools including EDR, SOAR, and SIEM solutions
• Conduct threat hunts to discover unknown malicious activity and participate in on-call rotations

What You Need

• Direct experience integrating AI tools, LLMs, and automated agents into security operations workflows
• Experience developing and tuning detections using detections-as-code with version control and CI/CD
• Proven track record leading complex security incident investigations with expertise in log analysis and forensic artifact collection
• Strong coding skills in Python or another general-purpose language for building automations
• In-depth knowledge of AWS or GCP, Linux environments, containers like Kubernetes, and their native security tooling
• Solid understanding of attacker tactics and techniques with threat hunting or threat modeling experience

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDN), edge cloud platforms, or Fastly products and services
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL processes and data pipelines for ingesting and normalizing security telemetry
• Experience deploying AI agents in production to detect threats, enrich alerts, and automate response

$167,790-$201,348 annually. Eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
