Qualifications

• 5+ years in network security with on-premises and Azure exposure.
• Experience with manual and automated security assessments and penetration testing.
• Familiarity with SSDLC and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of Azure security tools and services (Firewall, NSG, Defender, Key Vault).
• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and meet West LA location.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive security assessments and penetration tests for on-premises and Azure.
• Evaluate security posture during design, implementation, and deployment to align with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with application security architects to secure network infrastructure.
• Work with IT/DevOps/EA to uncover vulnerabilities and drive remediation.
• Integrate security controls and automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Review and enhance network architecture for Azure services (Firewall, NSG, Gateway).
• Provide guidance on IAM, data protection, secure connectivity between on-prem and cloud.
• Develop and enforce network security policies aligned with NIST/CIS/OWASP.
• Stay current with Azure security enhancements and threats.
• Prepare assessment reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Participate in incident response activities related to network/security events.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer with a focus on security architecture assessments across on-premises and Azure environments. The role includes conducting manual and automated security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, advising on mitigation strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to strengthen security posture.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive security assessments and penetration tests for on-premises networks and Azure cloud, using manual and automated methods for network controls, firewalls, and cloud-native features.
• Evaluate network security posture during design, implementation, and deployment to align with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with application security architects to integrate secure design principles into network infrastructure.
• Work with IT, DevOps, Application Development, and Enterprise Architecture to uncover vulnerabilities and drive remediation.
• Integrate security controls and automated testing into CI/CD pipelines for network and cloud deployments.
• Review and enhance network architecture by identifying threats, risks, and compliance gaps for Azure services such as Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups, and Azure Gateway.
• Provide guidance on IAM, data protection, and secure connectivity between on-premises and cloud resources.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and best practices aligned with frameworks such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and OWASP.
• Stay current with network security trends, Azure security enhancements, and evolving threats.
• Prepare assessment reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in incident response activities related to network or application security events.

Experience Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in network security with on-premises and Azure exposure.
• Understanding of application security architecture and integration with network security.
• Experience with manual and automated network security assessments, scanning, and penetration testing.
• Familiarity with SSDLC and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of Azure security tools and services including Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups, Defender/Security Center, and Key Vault.
• Communication skills to advise and collaborate across teams.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure Security Engineer Associate, CISSP, CEH, or CCSP are a plus.
• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Ability to meet the West Los Angeles, CA location requirement.
