Responsibilities:

The Security Engineer role includes platform Security Monitoring and Analytics; overseeing and performing Security Engineering tasks and functions; and developing and maintaining application security services for lab and production environments, supporting number porting services for the NPAC (Number Porting Administration Center). The candidate will be responsible for securing existing systems and applications; evaluating the security for 3rd party applications, host systems, development software, devices, and technologies for vulnerabilities; and developing requirements for related security solutions. The candidate must develop a thorough understanding of the solution (platform, application, and processes being developed and implemented) to fully meet the technical requirements of the position.

Some essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting changes and maintenance windows, including off-hours support.
• Participating in the Security 24x7 On-Call rotation and initiating escalation procedures to counteract potential threats/vulnerabilities.
• Assisting with incident response and breach activities, on a 24x7 schedule if necessary.
• Conducting security assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
• Designing and implementing security measures.
• Developing, implementing, and managing security policies and procedures.
• Testing, evaluating, deploying, and configuring security products and solutions.
• Managing security platform components like SIEM, HIDS, NIDS, FW, WAF, etc.
• Creating and updating SIRP response plans and leading incident response teams.
• Monitoring system, network, and application activity for unauthorized access or malicious activity.
• Performing security audits and risk assessments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
• Remote work within commuting distance to Bridgewater, NJ or Dallas, TX.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Subject matter expert in information security engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to analyze threats from multiple sources.
• Knowledge of operating systems, virtualization, and databases.
• Experience with Linux, Solaris, Windows.
• Scripting/development skills for security tool integration.
• Experience with Oracle Database, security auditing, logging.
• Knowledge of network devices and security solutions.
• Event reporting and logging expertise.
• Understanding of network device configuration and lifecycle management.
• Experience configuring firewalls, IDS, and other security devices.
• Skills in ACL management, SIEM, WAF, NIDS, endpoint monitoring, and application security.
• Experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and remediation.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.

Additional Skills:

• Experience with security applications like Wazuh, QRadar, Fortinet, CrowdStrike, QLIK, RedSeal, Tenable Security Center/Nessus is a plus.
• Security industry certifications preferred.
