Job summary

New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) seeks a Sergeant/Supervising Special Officer for the ACS Police Unit. The role focuses on security, safety, loss prevention, and order maintenance across agency facilities, with leadership of security staff and incident investigations.

The position requires completion of Peace Officer training and certification, along with residency and exam requirements. The unit safeguards NYC’s children and families as part of ACS’s broader mission.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience in the field of law enforcement, protection or security.
• Incumbents must satisfy the training requirements established by the State of New York for Peace Officers and obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for facility operations.
• Oversee reports, logs, and records regarding patrols, arrests and incidents relating to safety and security.
• Appear in court and assist other law enforcement agencies on arrest cases.
• Attend and pass Safe Crisis Management training and Peace Officer training as a condition of employment.
• Coordinate with agency representatives to ensure security equipment is operational and accounted for during tours.
