Job summary

Ethos is seeking a Deputy CISO with a strong hands-on security background to partner with the CISO and lead our security program. The role covers leadership, architecture reviews, and security operations across cloud platforms, applications, and infrastructure.

You will mentor engineers, own budget decisions, and drive secure-by-design practices within SDLC/CI/CD. The position demands deep technical credibility and the ability to communicate risk to executives and the board.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in security engineering, architecture, or leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Hands-on cloud security architecture (AWS) and IaC experience.
• Strong background in application security and modern architectures.
• Proven ability to communicate risk to executives and the board.

Responsibilities

• Lead security strategy & roadmap with the CISO and ensure alignment across the org.
• Act as deputy and escalation point for the CISO, including board engagements.
• Build and mentor security engineers and architects; manage budgets and vendor evaluations.
• Oversee security reviews of architecture, cloud, APIs, and infrastructure; drive secure SDLC/CI/CD.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation planning.
• Translate technical risk into business terms for non-technical stakeholders.
