Job summary

Choice Hotels International is seeking a Staff Security Architect to lead security architecture for critical domains within our Information Security organization. You will design standards and safeguards enabling rapid delivery without compromising security.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to implement secure-by-design practices, mentor engineers, and drive risk-informed architectural decisions across cloud, IAM, and data protection domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 10–14 years’ experience in security architecture, leading cross-functional programs.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable security solutions with measurable risk reduction.
• Experience producing security architecture artifacts (threat models, reference designs, ADRs).
• Cloud and identity expertise with AWS, Okta, CyberArk, CrowdStrike, Tenable, Snyk.

Responsibilities

• Lead security architecture for assigned domain, applying enterprise security standards.
• Perform architecture reviews and threat modeling to translate risks into design requirements.
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations to embed security in design and delivery.
• Develop and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and implementation guidance.
• Lead cross-functional architecture initiatives spanning cloud, IAM, app security, DevSecOps, data protection.
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and platform services.
• Guide security control selection based on risk, regulatory requirements, and constraints.
• Document architectural decisions and escalate risks or exceptions.
• Mentor engineers and architects on secure design practices.
• Communicate security concepts and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
