Job summary

Choice Hotels International, Inc. seeks a Staff Security Architect to lead security architecture for critical technology domains within its information security program.

You will design standards, influence engineering teams, and drive secure‑by‑design practices across CI/CD, cloud, IAM, and data protection. You will mentor engineers, articulate risk‑informed design decisions, and communicate security tradeoffs to executives while maintaining alignment with regulatory requirements and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field required, or equivalent experience
• 10-14 years’ experience in security architecture, including leading cross‑functional programs and defining domain standards
• Demonstrated track record of delivering scalable security solutions and measurable risk reduction outcomes
• Experience producing security architecture artifacts such as threat models, reference designs, and architecture decision records
• Cloud and identity expertise with technologies such as AWS, Okta, CyberArk, CrowdStrike, Tenable, and Snyk
• Strong understanding of secure design principles and their integration into the SDLC
• Knowledge of PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR, OWASP, OAuth, and SAML
• Advanced certifications preferred (CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CRISC, SABSA, Security+ or GIAC)
• Competencies: Technical Expertise, Influence & Collaboration, Problem Solving & Decision Quality

Responsibilities

• Lead security architecture for an assigned domain, platform, or set of products, applying enterprise security standards and guardrails
• Perform architecture reviews and threat modeling, translating risks into actionable design requirements
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to embed security throughout design and delivery
• Develop and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and implementation guidance
• Lead cross‑functional architecture initiatives spanning cloud, IAM, application security, DevSecOps, and data protection
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and platform services
• Guide security control selection based on risk, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints
• Document architectural decisions and outcomes, and escalate as needed
• Mentor engineers and fellow architects, raising the bar on secure design practices
• Communicate security concepts and tradeoffs effectively to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership
