Job summary

SAIC seeks a skilled Section 508 PDF Remediation Expert to ensure published reports, forms, and products are accessible to all users. The candidate will remediate complex documents, apply 508/WCAG2.x/PDF/UA standards, and work in a high-volume production environment.

The role requires expert proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, CommonLook/PAC tools, and experience testing with JAWS/NVDA. Collaboration with Information Management and QA teams is essential.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in CS or related field, or 4 years experience in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of PDF accessibility remediation experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
• Expert knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.x, and PDF/UA standards.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and tagging/read order/form fields/preflight tools.
• Experience with automated remediation tools like CommonLook or PAC.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign accessibility features.
• Experience testing with assistive technologies such as JAWS or NVDA.

Responsibilities

• Create Section 508 accessible PDFs from Word source files using accessibility tools.
• Remediate complex PDFs and forms with tagging, reading order, alt text, and tables.
• Validate remediated documents against 508, WCAG 2.x, and PDF/UA standards.
• Review PDFs destined for print vendors to ensure print specs.
• Create/modify accessible Word and InDesign templates, including VBA automation.
• Meet turnaround times and quality standards for accessible outputs.
• Provide guidance and training on accessible documents.
