Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the SDN and Network Observability Team. You will design and develop highly available, low-latency distributed services that manage software-defined networking for the TeraWave constellation, including telemetry processing and observability across thousands of terminals and assets.

You will collaborate with spacecraft, RF, networking, and ground systems engineers to build scalable systems, optimize performance, and support

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with distributed systems, networking, and backend platforms.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, or C++.
• Experience with cloud-native / large-scale production environments.
• Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Strong observability and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly available, low-latency distributed services.
• Build software for network orchestration and telemetry.
• Develop scalable data pipelines for telemetry streams.
• Design data models and storage solutions for real-time operations.
• Build APIs for planning, control, and execution components.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to integrate software with hardware.
• Participate in on-call support and incident response.
